The name of this website garners its name from the 360º x180º panoramic photos displayed here. As a videographer, I thought that you could not "say" as much with still pictures. That is until I saw my first panoramic photo. I was wondering around the Apple Computers website one day and found a software tool called QuickTimeVR. I was familiar with QuickTime in general, because I use the QT file format for my video work. But, I wasn't really familiar with what I saw that day, QuickTimeVR. I had heard of and seen panoramics before, product shots and some landscapes, but never really connected the dots and saw the potential. That is until . . . Time past. One day, I was looking at purchasing a new still camera and decided to Google for some panoramics. One of the sites that came up was called 360days. But the Google link was not the the main page but to this page. The Lord instantly spoke to me and said, "this is what I want you to do with your panaramics: document the White Dove Fellowship and Great Commission Fellowship mission field." Mickael Therer's site inspired me. Especially the stark simplicity of his site. So, I decided to model this site similar to his in that he has both high quality, high resolution immersive panoramics for those of us using broadband internet connections and smaller versions for those that are bandwidth impaired. A word of caution, though. The fullscreen panos are immersive, meaning that you will also hear the sound that was happening at the exact time the photos where taken and they are large files. As much as 2 to 2.5 megabytes in size. You will also need the Quicktime browser plugin. You gan get that here for Mac users and here for you Windows users. |
